Our Mission

Ozarks Funeral Prices is a public transparency service dedicated to helping families in southwest Missouri compare funeral and cremation costs. We believe that knowing prices before making decisions can save families thousands of dollars during an already difficult time.

Disclaimers

• Created by a provider: This site is published by Southwest Cremation, one of the providers listed in this comparison.
• Pricing changes: Prices shown may have changed. Always verify current pricing directly with the provider by phone before making any decisions.
• Not affiliated with any consumer advocacy organization: We are a commercial transparency project, not a government agency or nonprofit consumer group.
• Data sources: Pricing data is sourced from provider General Price Lists (GPLs) published online, provider social media, and third-party aggregators including Parting.com and Ever Loved. Aggregator estimates are clearly labeled as such.
• Not all providers are listed: While we have identified 23 providers serving southwest Missouri, there may be additional providers not yet included in our directory. If you know of one, please use the Submit GPL form.

Methodology

Our data is compiled through the following methods:

1. Direct provider research:We visit each provider's website to check for published General Price Lists (GPLs) and pricing information.
2. Aggregator data: We reference Parting.com and Ever Loved for estimated pricing when provider websites do not publish prices.
3. Transparency ratings:Each provider is classified as “Published” (full GPL online), “Partial” (some pricing available), or “Call” (no pricing published online).
4. Verification:Prices marked as verified come directly from the provider's own website or official documentation. Unverified prices are aggregator estimates and should be confirmed with the provider.

Last updated: July 2026. We aim to review and update pricing data quarterly.

The FTC Funeral Rule Explained

The Federal Trade Commission's Funeral Rule protects your right to compare funeral prices. Key rights include:

• You have the right to a GPL over the phone: Funeral homes must provide price information over the phone if you ask. They cannot require you to visit in person first.
• You have the right to see a GPL before making selections: When visiting in person, the funeral home must give you a written GPL to keep before discussing arrangements.
• You have the right to choose only the goods and services you want:Funeral homes cannot require you to buy a package. You can pick individual items.
• You have the right to supply your own casket or urn: The funeral home cannot refuse to handle it or charge extra fees.
